Commercial Construction Projects

  • Constructing Hope Pre-Apprenticeship Program | Addition and Tenant Improvement

MCG managed construction of tenant improvements of a 5500 sq ft office and adding 1500 sq. ft. to Constructing Hope’s training and skills facility. The work included relocation of the main entrance and offices from Church Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard; mechanical upgrades to heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, plumbing fixtures, building insulation, new structural footings, and new storefront windows. MCG also revised the existing floor plan to provide two private offices, an open office/cubicle area, a skills and training area, a classroom, two conference rooms, a kitchenette, and three storage rooms.

  • St. Joseph Grand Lodge of Oregon | Facade Reconstruction

Built in 1908, this 6000 sq. ft. building has a strong historical and cultural context. One of the last remaining Black-owned commercial buildings in the Mississippi District and the Grand Lodge of the Sons of Haiti, the building needed major repairs in order to continue serving the community. With the assistance of a Prosper Portland grant, MCG was hired to rebuild the façade. The work included the removal of asbestos and deteriorated walls replaced with a new Fortifiber wrap system, 36 new windows, soffit repair, and new siding and paint for the entire building.

  • Portland Community College, Carolyn Moore Writers House | Tenant Improvement

MCG worked closely with the PCC design team to renovate an existing 2,882 square foot log home built in 1997 to serve as a sanctuary for authors, aspiring authors and Portland Community College faculty. The work included a new accessible kitchen and accessibility upgrades throughout, new interior plumbing and water lines from street to building, bathtub removal and infill and other restroom fixture upgrades, repair of decks, and construction of new decks. Through VE, the team resolved quality issues with existing floors, gas furnace, and antique wood trim.

  • DEFY Tacoma Trampoline Park

In this foundational project with a previous firm, Angela Smith helped bring new life to this cutting-edge extreme sports venue in Tacoma, WA. Angela collaborated with the franchisees and design team on a major interior remodel, value engineering the building and lowering costs by $500K. She then worked with the City of Tacoma, Owners, and equipment design team to understand project needs and redesign the layout to provide the savings back to the Owner.
